Cast-in fire collar

H65S 65 mm cast-in fire collar

The smallest collar in the range, sized for small bore plastic pipe penetrations up to 63 mm, such as appliance and branch wastes. Cast into the slab before the pour and sealed by patented spring activation, restoring the floor’s fire resistance where a pipe passes through it.

  • 3 minute rapid close
  • Up to 4 hours fire resistance
  • Seals smoke and fire

Installation essentials

Designed for a fast, clean cast-in install

  • Cast in before the pour. Fixed to the formwork by its locator plate, which also blocks slurry, and set flush with the underside of the slab. Collars must not be recessed below it, except using the approved Manifold Recess Former.
  • Cut to slab depth. Standard height 250 mm, trimmed to slab depth on site if required, with stackable 50 mm extensions for slabs deeper than 250 mm.
  • Minimum slab. 150 mm thick, minimum concrete strength 20 MPa. Greater thickness or density is permitted; less is not.
  • Cluster installs. Use Connection Clips to join adjacent collars, and the Manifold Recess Former where a manifold sits on the slab.
  • Built for the site. Snap off nail points make denailing obvious when the formwork is struck, a reinforced removable cap takes heavy site traffic, and the bright casing is easy to spot on a busy deck.

What’s inside

What’s inside the H65S

A closer look at the components that make up the H65S and what each one does.

Cutaway diagram of the Sure Snap H65S cast-in fire collar showing its components: cap, extension, collar casing, rubber ring, spring pocket, intumescent lining, base flange and locator plate
  1. Cap. The centre is punctured, then the cap is pried out with a screwdriver.
  2. Extension. Each one adds 50 mm of height.
  3. Collar casing. The rigid polypropylene body.
  4. Rubber ring. Seals against the pipe.
  5. Spring pocket. Houses the activation springs.
  6. Intumescent lining. The patented Intumesh that expands in a fire.
  7. Base flange. Prevents concrete ingress and gives clip points to align adjacent collars.
  8. Locator plate. A grooved plate that holds the pipe in place, with a central fixing hole and alignment windows.

Fire performance

Tested fire resistance by pipe type

All figures are from the BRE Extended Application Report P104650-1003 Issue 3. The last two columns are the EN 13501-2 classifications: insulation (EI) is how long the collar holds back both heat and flame, and integrity (E) is the longer period it keeps stopping flame and hot gases.

  • Tested through a 150 mm steel reinforced concrete slab at 2240 kg/m³ density.
  • Tested uncapped, the worst case, so every capped configuration is covered.
  • BS EN 1366-3, classified to EN 13501-2, extended via EN 15882-3.

Outperforms a competitor’s collar

We put a Sure Snap collar in a side by side fire test against a competitor’s fire collar. Sure Snap’s patented spring activation and the Intumesh™ intumescent deliver a fast closing seal, stopping flame and smoke from escaping through the pipe.
